Meet Her At Midnight

Taylor Swift - Midnights [Moonstone Blue Edition] - Amazon.com Music

Ever wondered what Taylor Swift thinks about on late nights when she’s alone? Good thing she wrote 20 songs about it!

In a pinnacle of moody visual pop, Swift analyzes a lot of her relationships and their dynamics. “Midnights” is a very reflective album, but unlike her 2020 albums. She jumps right back to the sassiness in some songs from “Speak Now” or “Reputation”.

This record of full of melodies and lyrics perfect to scream in the car! “Lavender Haze”, “Question…?”, “Vigilante Sh*t”, “Bejeweled”, and “Karma” are all perfect to get your friends singing at the top of their lungs! Even though these are all hits, they have a very wide range of topics. From being in a honeymoon phase, a revenge phase, a very seductive song, and a self-love song, Swift truly does cover it all.

The huge hit on this album was the single “Anti-Hero” which has recently been nominated for 3 Grammy awards! The song hits a relatable and vulnerable chord of recognizing that you are at fault in a situation, while of course being put to a catchy beat.

But “Midnights” is more than an upbeat pop album, there are also songs that require deep analysis and emotional aptitude. “Maroon”, “You’re On Your Own, Kid”, “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve”, “Labyrinth”, and “Bigger Than The Whole Sky” are all great examples of this.

The greatness of this album is validated by not only fans but yet again the Grammys. Nominated for Swift’s sixth Record of the Year award plus Best Pop Vocal Album, Midnights is a hit with critics as well.

This album is recommended to anyone bugged by late-night thoughts, the overthinkers and dreamers, and fans of Taylor’s moody pop. Be ready for stories of love and heartbreak, childhood hurt, analysis of past relationships, and reminders that you are great just the way you are.

As this is Swift’s most recent release and the closer in her iconic Eras Tour right now, what will be released next is a mystery. Will she finish the last two rerecords before we get brand-new music? Will it be pop or will she tackle a new genre again? Will it be about the Superbowl winning “guy on the Chiefs” as she referred to him on stage? No matter what happens, you can count on this blog to be listening at midnight.
