The intro to the 1989 tour sets up the album full of upbeat, city-centered, a persona of cool, unbothered, and love-inducing tracks. Swift takes on a rebuttal to the critics who claimed that “Red” portrayed her as clingy, boy-obsessed, dramatic, and naïve. Now, Taylor is having a great time in the Big Apple with her best girlfriends without a care in the world.
With “1989 (Taylor’s version)” coming out in 2 weeks on October 27th, this is a perfect time to dive into the record and take it back to 2014.
A large handful of Taylor’s most iconic hits fall on this album including “Blank Space”, “Shake It Off”, “Wildest Dreams” and “Bad Blood”. All of which are super upbeat, karaoke, and dance-the-night-away songs. “Shake It Off” and “Bad Blood” are both unrelated to past romantic relationships, further proving her point that she is more than an ex-girlfriend.
This record is definitely more focused on being in love and in a relationship instead of a heartbreak centrality. A lot of these songs such as “This Love”, “I Know Places”, “Wonderland”, “You Are In Love”, “New Romantics”, and “Style” all are about Swift and her boyfriend at the time. She discusses the highs and lows in a relationship, wanting to keep their relationship private, and the simple joys of love.
Five new songs will be released with the re-recording that were written at the same time “1989” was written. Fans are unbelievably excited for new stories from Taylor and can’t wait to see if her songs follow the same pattern as the others released.
To prove this point further, “1989” had 10 GRAMMY nominations and went home with Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video for “Bad Blood” in 2016.
