And She Said Speak Now

Taylor Swift - "Speak Now" Album Comparison (2010 vs Taylor's Version) - YouTube

Taylor Swift does it again! Her third album, Speak Now, is a favorite of many fans, including myself! Iconic for being the first album Swift fully wrote herself, it is a true step and hint into the pop direction she would dive into later in her career. “Speak Now” is her most recent rerecord release and arguably one of the most anticipated.

Taylor launched into a lot of very intense feelings as a 19-year-old girl and all of them hit home for her fans still today. The 14-song album released in 2010 ranges from long ballads to shorter releases of anger. Perfect for any mood!

The record starts off sweet and full of love and - shocker - nostalgia for our high school and early romances with the opening track “Mine” and following it the ever-iconic “Sparks Fly”. Both of these songs are super upbeat and fun to sing with friends!

But I hope y’all didn’t get too comfortable because Swift then hits us with heartbreaking ballads like “Back To December”, “Dear John”, and “Last Kiss”. All of them are about a breakup, but focus a lot on the loss of her “person” and what it feels like trying to move on.

Completely flipping the mood, Swift also released her revenge-against-the-woman-her-ex-got-with-next song. “Better Than Revenge” is a popular one amongst fans- even if in hindsight it isn’t the kindest song- it’s a very fun one to belt and be sassy to in the car.

A very passionate album that is perfect for anyone in the mood for singing about lust, regret, high emotions, crashing a wedding, and being caught up in love, Speak Now is the album for you. But make sure to listen to “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” to support the rerecordings and to have the ability to listen to the vault tracks that were released this year!
